Local council funds come from public money – most of this is through precepts. Local councils are required to comply with “proper practices”, which have statutory force and are set out in “Governance and Accountability for Smaller Authorities in England”. The rules protect community assets and aim to make best use of public money.
The Parish Council raises a local tax (the precept) which is paid to us by Milton Keynes Council and collected via the Council Tax. The precept is then spent within the Parish and all expenditure is approved by the Councillors, local residents elected by you every four years.
Stantonbury Parish Council raised the precept for 2019/2020 by 2% compared to 2018/2019.
